Q: Does Zeal serve alcohol? A: No. Zeal is a 100% drug and alcohol free youth venue.
Q Is ZEAL a safe venue? A We take the safety of the people who come to ZEAL seriously. At all events we have an excellent security team. It is a Drug/Alcohol Free venue, and each person is checked at the door. We monitor the inside/and directly outside the venue. If people chose to wander further than this, it is their decision, and we cannot ensure their safety. We advise parents to inform their young people of this risk. After the event we are on-site for approx 1 hour, to ensure all people have been picked up safely. We have a very strong relationship with the local police also. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us, or come down and check the venue out.
Q: What age do you have to be to go to Zeal? A: ZEAL works with the governments youth age of 13 – 24yrs. Our after school café time is 13 – 20yrs. We have well trained youth workers and security at events to monitor and refuse entry to older people. Parents/families and caregivers are welcome to come and watch their young people at events. If you are older than our age range don't be offended if we ask why you're here, we want to keep Zeal a safe place.
Q: Does it Cost? A: Our café time is free, events are sometimes free, or usually $5 - $10 depending on the type of event. We have a lot of workshops or programs that are free or a small cost. Please enquiry to find out specific costs.

Q: Is Zeal a Faith-based organisation? A: Yes. ZEAL was originally founded out of The Rock Church in Wellington, although it has developed much from its origins, it still retains some of its faith based values in its approach to Youth Development. ZEAL is not a platform to preach for anyone, and because of this ZEAL Employees will not preach or share their belief unless asked. ZEAL strives to be an inclusive community where all young people are welcome, regardless of their beliefs and lifestyles. We follow the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of Maori health development, which focuses on growth in Te Taha Tinana (physical health), Te Taha Hinengaro (Emotional health), Te Taha Whanau (family and community support) and Te Taha Wairua (Spiritual health) We believe it is important to nurture healthy development in not one but all of these areas. |
