FAQs

Q:    Does Zeal serve alcohol?
A:    No. Zeal is a 100% drug and alcohol free youth venue. Our youth workers are quality people who have had thorough background checks. We also hire security as necessary to make sure no illicit substances find their way into our events.

Q:    What age do you have to be to go to Zeal?
A:    Most of Zeal's programmes and events are open to young people aged 13-18 years. In the case of some events (such as dance parties) there may be an R15 exception. Check the Gig Guide for specific info. If you are older than 18 don't be offended if we ask why you're here, we want to keep Zeal a safe place.

Q:    Does it Cost?
A:    Most Zeal events cost under $10 to go to. Some larger events which require more security or hired equipment may cost $15-$20. For specific info on the cost of an event have a look at the Gig Guide.

Q:    Are we open over School Holidays?
A:    Zeal normally slows down during the holidays. If you'd like to knoe what's going on check out the Gig Guide page.

Q:    Is Zeal a Faith-based organisation?
A:    Yes. Many of Zeal's youth workers are Christians. However, the primary aim of Zeal is equip young people to develop in all areas of life. We follow the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of Maori health development which focuses on growth in Te Taha Tinana (physical health), Te Taha Wairua (Spiritual health), Te Taha Hinengaro (Emotional health) and Te Taha Whanau (family and community support). Because of this, Zeal's employees will not preach or share their beliefs unless asked.
